Sage Words of Wisdom

Logan has been very sick and in turn very cranky. After a little meltdown this morning Emma looked at him and said:
"Logan you need to calm down. Not every day can be perfect. But tomorrow might be better."

The Age of Technology Part 2

The reason you haven't seen any pictures since the day of the 1st snowstorm is that nowadays they make cameras small enough to fit easily into a jacket pocket. And said jacket was dirty and wet enough after playing in the snow to warrant a washing. And said camera went undetected all the way into the rinse cycle before it was remembered. Please be kind with your comments.

The Age of Technology

Emma was out of school all last week because of a bad cold. We were talking about her going back to school tomorrow if she was feeling up to it and she said, "I can't wait to see my boyfriend Jayden."
Adam responded, "I told you if Jayden wants to be your boyfriend he needs to talk to me about it first."
To which Emma replied,"You can send him an email."

It's a Blizzard

We ventured outside today for about 45 minutes and braved the snow. In true reflections of their personalities, Emma ran around like a crazed lunatic and Logan stood in the same place the entire time. About every 30 seconds he said, "All done. L.J. inside now please." I'm pretty sure he takes after his mother in that aspect.

Oh Christmas Tree 2007

Seriously??????

I think I'll let someone else tell Emma that she can't have her Xanax tonight. And I'll have to hide the car keys too.

He Needs Some Testosterone in This House

Dear Daddy,

Please come home quickly. These girls keep dressing me up in princess clothes. I pretend that I like it because I don't want to hurt their feelings but I can't take it anymore. Please hurry!

Love, Logan

Something I Thought Would Never Come Out of My Mouth

"Logan would you please stop using your sister's naked butt as a drum."

He Tries So Hard

A conversation with Logan at 7:30 last night went something like this:

Logan: Momma I have candy?
Me: Sorry buddy it's too close to bedtime.
Logan: Momma I have hollipop?
Me: No Logan.
Logan: Momma I have candy hollipop plllllleeeeeeeeaaaaaassssssseeeeee?

Well since you asked nicely I'll get the leftover Halloween candy and let you have a go of it.

It Sure Looks Pretty But I Hate It Nevertheless

The frozen tundra of winter is upon us. All of the little berries on the tree outside of our apartment were caked with ice this morning which made for a pretty picture.

I dread the arrival of winter. I hate the snow and ice. I hate always feeling cold. I hate the funk that takes over my body until the crocuses pop up in the spring. I especially hate the $400 we shell out a month on electricity to heat a 900 square foot apartment that is built on a concrete slab. If there were no children or husband to take care of, I'm pretty sure I would crawl under the covers of my electric blanket and hibernate like a fat bear.

Always Grateful

As I was tucking Logan into bed last night he looked up at me and said, "Thank You for Tuck, Tuck, Tuck my friend."

I love this kid. He's such a sweetie when he's not biting and hitting.

School Picture 2007

It came out much better than last year's picture where she looked like someone was stabbing hot pokers into her kneecaps. Although she did insist on wearing the hideous butterfly necklace.

A Messy Combination

Yogurt, Cocoa Krispies and a bit of a runny nose do not make for a very clean boy. By the end of the meal he had chocolaty, strawberry snottiness up to his forehead. And he still made it look cute.

Trying Desperately to Get Into the Big Guy's Good Graces

A song to Santa by Emma McKenley Snow:

I love you, oh Santa, yes I do
You are so kind to me
You jingle your reindeer (?)
and bring me my presents
I'll leave you 2 cookies and I'll eat some too
I love you, oh Santa, so much
Thanks for being Santa
I'll leave you gingerbread cookies.

Sung to the beat of the drum while Logan accompanied her on piano.

We're Fitting Her For the Chastity Belt Tomorrow

Emma told me tonight while we were getting ready for a bath:

"I like being naked. It makes me feel powerful."

We're going to be keeping her away from shiny poles and dollar bills for the next 30 years or so.

No Rest for the Weary (But Lots of Love)

My sweet boy has a horrible cold and has been getting up at least twice a night since Monday. Last night he was up at 11, 1, 2:30, 3:15 and 4. I finally settled him down in bed with me and Emma (who had climbed in sometime during all those other times I was awake) around 5. Every time I started to drift off to sleep, I was awakened with a "Momma High 5", followed by a hand in my face. After the 6th or 7th time I told Logan that if he didn't settle down I was going to have to put him back in his own bed. To which he replied, in the sweetest of tones with his hands on either side of my face, "You good Momma, I go sleep, I love you sooooooo much like 8."

It almost made my lack of sleep worthwhile.

The Invisible (Wo)man

While we were cleaning up tonight, Emma began to tell me about her imaginary friend Cameron. When I asked her what she looked like she said, "How am I supposed to know...she's invisible. But that's a good thing because when she makes a mess you can't see it."

I Have No Idea What She Is Talking About

Emma just told me....

"Momma I think Logan has lost his marbles. He's putting marshmellows in his coffee grinder."

No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

The children seem to sense the second I take the sheets off the beds for washing and less than 30 seconds later they are jumping like mad men and women.

The last shot is Logan seconds before he tumbled head first off the bed. I, being the good mother that I am, actually put down the camera to tend to him.

A Little Bit of Ingenuinity Goes A Long Way

I got out of the shower this morning to found that Emma had made this.
When I asked her why there were dots all along the hand print, she told me she couldn't find a pair of scissors so she used a pencil to poke holes and then ripped the paper along the perforations.

I'm admitting this publicly in front of all those who read this.....my kid is seriously smarter than I am.

Sign Him Up For Some Parenting Classes

Logan was walking around with one of Emma's dolls this morning. Below is the conversation that followed.

Me: "L.J. do you have a baby?"
Logan: "Yes."
Me: "What is her name?"
Logan: "Wah Wah Wah."
Me: "Is she crying?"
Logan: "Yes cuz I hit her."

Such a sweet boy.....

It's My Boy in a Box

Who cares about toys...
When there is a box to play in...
Especially if it doesn't hinder T.V. viewing.
And he did all this by himself. My little genius.

Our Little World Travelers

We were on our way to Adam's holiday work party when we overheard this exchange between Emma & Logan.

Emma: Look Logan, all the leaves have fallen off the trees. That means it's winter.
Logan: Yeah.
Emma: It's like that time in Trinidad.

Apparently the children have obtained stolen identities and are travelling the world while Adam & I think they are sleeping.

The (Not So) Sad Passing of a Family Pet

Snow, MiKayla
Of Southbridge, MA. Entered into rest November 18, 2007 at the wise old age of 7 months. Beloved pet of Emma Snow. Dear friend to Logan, Adam & Kerri Snow. Services were held in the toilet in the Snow's bathroom in the early morning hours of November 18. When asked how she felt about the passing of her pet, Emma replied, "At least I still have my cat." In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in MiKayla's memory may be made to the My Owner Forgot to Feed Me and Then Flushed Me Association of America.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town a Wee Bit Early

For those who know me it's a well known fact that I abhor that Christmas commercialism starts right after Halloween. But the great advantage (yes I'm admitting there's a great part of this ) is that there is NO line for Santa pictures this time of year. So since the children were behaving and nicely dressed I gave into the temptation and had their pictures taken with the Big Guy at the mall today. At first Emma refused to go anywhere near him...although she caved after the promise of a special treat. And young Mr. Logan refused to take his sunglasses off. So I give you the Snow Santa Photo of 2007.
Precious isn't it????

My Little Man is Growing Up

He is attempting to pee-pee on the potty and he sleeps in a "Ighting McKeen" big boy bed
Now we just need to figure out how to get him to give up the binky and we can send him to college.

She Never Stops

Emma to Adam last night in response to watching Shrek 3:
"Daddy, this is going to be 30 pounds of fun."

Emma to me after she came out in tank top and short p.j.'s last night and I told her to change because she would be cold:
"But Momma, I have special powers that warm up my skin."

Emma to Logan this morning after he tried to get into her fort:
"This is my castle L.J. You can live here when you get a job."

Emma to me after I commented on how much an item she wants for Christmas costs:
"It's okay...Santa doesn't worry about money."

Emma's School Project (The Perfect Leave it to Beaver Family)

Emma made this project at school yesterday and her teachers made it a point of telling me how they were very impressed that she spelled out everyone's names by herself. Since I already know my kid is exceptionally gifted, I was impressed with something totally different: how their stickers seemed to have survived from the 1950's. My only complaint was that no woman could every have that skinny a waist after 2 children.

More Words of Wisdom From Emma

Emma was telling Adam and I at dinner tonight how she didn't think she was smart. When Adam asked her why she thought that she said, "I'm just not up to the challenge."

There was a conversation between Adam & Em where he was trying to teach her how the coffee pot works. For those who know Adam, you know how sometimes he gets a little more technical than necessary (especially for a 4 year old). When he asked her a question about what he had just told her, her response was, "Blah, Blah, Blah."

I think that proves she's much smarter than she thinks.

Melting My Heart One Day At A Time

Logan just said to Adam:

"Daddy, you make me happy."

Enough to make a grown man cry..........

Pics From the New Camera

Still working out the bugs...like trying not to stick my finger in front of the flash but I'm loving it.
